Prof. Eric C. Ledbetter, DVM, DACVO, is the James Law Professor of Ophthalmology at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, one of the world's leading veterinary institutions. A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO), he is internationally recognized for his expertise in companion animal ophthalmology, ocular infectious diseases, corneal disorders, and advanced ocular imaging.
Prof. Ledbetter graduated as Valedictorian (summa cum laude) from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. He completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Texas A&M University, followed by a residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at Cornell University, where he joined the faculty in 2006. Since then, he has established an internationally respected academic career combining clinical excellence, research, teaching, and specialist training.
His research focuses on ocular infectious diseases, corneal disease, advanced in vivo corneal imaging, and comparative ophthalmology, contributing significantly to improving the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases in companion animals, horses, and food-producing animals. Prof. Ledbetter has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications, review articles, and textbook chapters and is a highly sought-after invited speaker at major national and international veterinary conferences.
